Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb pork tenderloin trimmed of silver skin
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp water optional, to adjust sauce consistency
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil shimmers, add the pork tenderloin, searing each side for about 3-4 minutes until a deep golden crust forms.
  • Lower the heat to medium and introduce the minced garlic into the pan. Stir it continuously for about 30 seconds, ensuring it does not burn. You should notice the garlic releasing its aroma and turning a light golden color, indicating it is perfectly cooked.
  • Add the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the pan. Stir thoroughly, ensuring the mixture is well-blended. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any caramelized bits from the bottom, allowing them to dissolve into the sauce. This will enhance the sauce's depth and richness. Continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
  • Generously season the pork with salt and black pepper, ensuring even coverage. Place the pork in the skillet, cover it, and allow it to simmer gently in the sauce for 10-12 minutes. Turn the pork occasionally to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking, until the meat is tender and cooked through.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the pork tenderloin. It should read 145°F for safe consumption. If the temperature is below this, continue cooking over medium heat, checking every few minutes, until the desired temperature is achieved. This ensures the pork is cooked through and safe to eat.
  • After cooking, transfer the pork tenderloin from the skillet to a cutting board. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes, ensuring the internal juices settle evenly throughout the meat. This resting period is crucial for maintaining moisture and achieving a tender texture when sliced.
  • If the sauce becomes overly thick, incorporate a tablespoon of water, stirring continuously over low heat. Maintain this gentle heat, allowing the sauce to gradually thin out. Keep stirring until the sauce achieves a smooth, pourable consistency, ensuring it doesn't stick to the pan or burn.
  • After allowing the pork tenderloin to rest for optimal juiciness, carefully slice it into 1/2-inch thick medallions. Arrange these evenly on a serving platter, ensuring they are spaced slightly apart to showcase their golden-brown seared edges. This presentation will highlight the tender texture and make serving easier for your guests.
  • Generously spoon the honey garlic sauce over the sliced pork tenderloin, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated. Allow the sauce to seep into the meat, enhancing its aroma and flavor. The sauce should glisten on the surface, indicating it has been evenly distributed. This step ensures the pork remains moist and flavorful.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a touch of color and freshness. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.

Notes

Ensure the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F to prevent undercooking. If using a different protein, adjust cooking times accordingly. The sauce can be adjusted with water if it becomes too thick during simmering.
